I had the pleasure of attending Thane Dunn’s concert at Holy Heart Auditorium last week to shoot some promotional footage of his act. For anyone that doesn’t know who Thane Dunn is, he is a professional Elvis impersonator from Moncton, New Brunswick. Thane has won multiple awards including the #1 title at the world’s largest international Elvis tribute competition in 2009 as well as the #1 spot at The Elvis Gospel Competition in 2012. If you have ever seen Elvis impersonators before, I can assure you, this guy will put them all to shame. He looks, sounds and acts like Elvis.
After the show when we were interviewing some of the audience members, a lot of big Elvis fans raved about how you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between Thane and Elvis himself. They said it’s like going back in time. I was never old enough to see Elvis perform in person but I can believe it from watching videos of Elvis perform back in the 60s. I think Thane’s act would give momentum to the “Elvis faked his death” conspiracy (outside of the fact that Elvis would be 79 if he were alive today). Just take a look at these two photos. The photo on the top is Thane and the photo on the bottom is the original king in all his blinged out glory. See what I mean?
If you are an Elvis fan, keep an eye out for Thane’s next show in your area. He is coming back to St. John’s Jan. 8 & 9, and you can buy tickets here! Thane also has a Facebook Page that is updated frequently as well as a website that lists his showtimes. Even if you aren’t a huge Elvis fan, the show is still great and most anyone can appreciate a craft as well-honed as Thane’s.

Well here it is the finished product! I had the opportunity to do Melissa and Blair Pelley’s wedding video and I had a great time doing so! We even got to visit some beautiful horses that work for the RCMP, although they were trying pretty hard to eat the bouquets haha
I’m really happy with the result, it’s not hard to do a good video when you’re working with a couple as in love as these two. 🙂
..with this short little promo video! The clip used is from Melissa & Blair’s wedding video, stay tuned for the full version!

Take a look at our fancy new business cards hot off the press!
They are printed on a textured card stock from Quik Print and the font is Copperplate, for any font fiends that might be curious to know!
I designed the cards myself on Photoshop (with the help of a few YouTube tutorials) and I was really picky about the paper but I eventually made up my mind. Maybe I will get a photo of them to post here to show the final result? The whole process reminded me a little of the business card scene from American Psycho – anyone that has seen the movie, will know exactly what I am talking about. I had fun designing the card and I am looking forward to giving them out to potential future clients!
Also, this week I will be launching my Facebook page so check back later to see the brand new page!
Well here is the final product! Thanks to Kimberly Jose Yapp, Tin Bird Productions has its very own logo! I’m so happy with the results. In case you may be wondering about the name and logo of Tin Bird Productions, it comes from my grandfather. He used to have little wind up toys and would sometimes carry them around in his pocket. A little tin bird was my favourite so when it came to picking out a name, it was the one that stuck out to me. I had other ideas that didn’t make the cut but I might write about them for another blog! One interesting fact about the logo is that the key on the back of the bird is actually 3 apertures, which are essentially mechanisms inside cameras that control the amount of light. This was something Kimberly came up with and I loved the idea. To see more of Kim’s work, visit her webpage and Facebook page here:
She is a graphic artist you will want to keep your eyes on as she is working on some really interesting projects and this is only the beginning of her career.
Hello! This is our first blog post! We are now officially incorporated as of this past Thursday, August 14th!! 🙂 We’re looking forward doing lots of videography in Newfoundland in the next year. This month is turning out to be a pretty busy for us and the work we have received so far has been all from word of mouth (just like Krispy Kreme), which is great. On Friday we shot our first video as an incorporated company, it is a graduation video for the Primary & Elementary class of 2014 from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. Things went well and now it’s just time to edit! We are also awaiting the completion of our logo which is currently getting its final touches from Graphic Artist, Kimberly Jose Yapp. If you want to see some of her previous work, visit her website here: www.kimberlyjy.com
That’s all the news for now, check back for more updates next week!
