Check out this brand new show!

Son of a Critch is airing on January 4th on CBC and the CBC Gem app!! I worked on this production as a DIT and had a blast, there’s a lot of Newfoundland throwback nostalgia and it’s nice memoire of Mark Critch’s childhood growing up in the 80s here in Newfoundland. Don’t miss it!

A behind-the-scenes look

Last week I directed and co-produced a shoot for my new documentary, Set in Motion, at The Pouch Cove Foundation. We had a team that included a DP (Cecil Johnson), Sound Recordist/Mixer (Don Ellis), Camera Assistant (Duncan DeYoung), Production Manager (Mayra Sanchez) and Stills Photographer (Alex Stead). On this shoot we interviewed two researchers from On the Move Partnership, Deatra Walsh and Leanna Butters and they gave us some insight on the work they have completed recently.

The whole shoot went really well and I loved working on a team, something I don’t often do but definitely would like to be doing a lot more of in the future.

It’s all starting to come together for this doc finally as pre-production began during our 2020 lockdown. I’m happy to see this take form and looking forward to its release this coming fall.

Shooting a doc in the pandemic

We have been lucky in Newfoundland and I have my first vaccine now, yay! Shooting has been pretty straight forward for the most part with a few set backs due to the recent lockdown. For now it’s mostly social distancing, masks and hand sanitizer, just like everyone else!

Right now I’m shooting my new doc and also working on some other small commercial shoots. It’s a great time of year to be outside :).

I have been in pre-production!

It’s been a while since I last posted (I feel I say that every time haha) but I have been busy doing some pre-production for my newest doc, Set in Motion, which will be airing on CBC this fall. Pre-production doesn’t give me much exciting things to post except for this one time I went to Bell Island to put up flyers (and also eat fish & chips) so here you go:

Also I’m out of focus in the photo because my fiance took it, some day I will have him trained.. haha.

Come watch Rock Solid Builds!

This is the first time HGTV has come to Newfoundland and they picked a great place to start, Brigus!!

This home reno show is the first of its kind and its airing on Feb. 18th, 2021 on HGTV. I helped out as a camera operator/assistant and we followed around Randy and his team and they renovated old houses in Brigus. Put it in your PVR now because you wont want to miss out!

Little photoshoot with stylebyKP

I did a shoot in Middle Cove with Kristina Parsons of stylebyKP back in the summer and I love the palette of the whole shoot. Kristina is a montreal-based Newfoundlander working in the fashion industry. If you’re looking for some social media content or a stylist visit her instagram here!

I have a NEW documentary in the works!!

This is pretty exciting news! I am officially working on my first TV hour documentary for CBC, as part of the Absolutely Canadian series. This doc will be shot entirely in Newfoundland and it’s about the mobile workforce, people who have employment-related travel and it will be supported by CBC, On the Move Partnership and the NLFDC.

I am currently in the pre-production process of working out contracts and looking for main subjects to be in the film so if you know any of the following 3 people that might be interested in being in it feel free to reach out to me ( and say hi!

  • Single mother using public transit to get to and from her job
  • A fly-in/fly-out worker with a family in Newfoundland
  • A single/divorced male truck driver

The shoot itself will be very low key and it may just be me with my camera and a few lights fyi!
